May 1st - Finally - Washington, DC!!!!

Had a nice lazy start, as Jim warned us NOT to enter Washington before 10:00 AM, so we obeyed our "leader" and hit the loop around 11. Managed to make our way to the Cherry Hill RV Park without any major disasters (took ONE wrong turn, but "Maggie" managed to get us back on track real quick!!!) Got set up and were just relaxing a bit when we looked up and saw a brand new Winnebago Adventurer sitting at the end of the road. Well, I'll be darned!!! Kate and Jim got a new motorhome!!!! It was nice that we all got in to the park at a reasonable time, because we had a chance to visit a bit before the orientation meeting.

The orientation was all about how to use the public transportation system of Washington, DC -- really important as you DO NOT want to be driving in Washington anymore!

After the meeting we hopped into our car and followed Jim on a long ride through the outskirts of Washington to a place they knew that had "the best crab cakes in the world". They were excellent.... first time I had ever had anything like it! Then early to bed for all of us to get ready for our first day of exploring Washington! We are so excited, because we have looked forward to this trip for SO LONG!!!!!
