We had a little trouble with the GPS on the way down, so we kinda missed the right road and ended up taking some side streets and doing the "scenic route". It was really ok though, because we ended up driving by the Capitol Building, with it's statue of an Indian on top and a working oil well on the grounds. We also drove through a neighborhood of FANTASTIC Victorian mansions. I asked Harold to stop so I could take a photo of this wonderful home. I hopped out to do so, and so did he! Later, when we were discussing what a great day we had had, somehow we got onto the topic of the picture of this house and Harold mentioned the buffalo! Buffalo?? Apparently HE got out to take a picture of the painted buffalo on the lawn of this home, WHICH, I might add, I never saw at all!!!!!

It was a beautiful day to be walking around downtown Oklahoma City. We purchased the all-day trolley pass, but only used it twice! It was wonderful to see the beautiful spring flowers in bloom and just enjoy the scenery.

A pair of ducks enjoying the canal.

Man made falls along the Bricktown Canal.

More beautiful spring blossoms.

OKC has painted buffalo all over the city. We saw several of them downtown.

More of the Bricktown Canal walk.

These beautiful trees are in blossom everywhere in OKC

Part of the Oklahoma Land Run Monument. Eventually this monument will stretch out longer than a football field!! The impressive size suggests the monumental effort of those early settlers, but the real story is found in the details. All the frenzied energy and emotion from one instant during the 1889 run is captured in bronze in 1.5 scale. The canal boat driver said that the driver of the first wagon is a likeness of the artist who designed the project, Paul Moore. The rest of the characters in the monument are supposedly made in the images of some of his friends and family. I guess if you want imortality, it would be a good thing to make friends with him!

When the gun went off to start the land run, the population of Oklahoma City swelled instantly. By the end of the day, there were 10,000 residents in the city!

Mickey Mantle is also imortalized in a statue in front of the Bricktown Ball Park.

This was cute. The bikers have their own parking spaces complete with appropriately spaced parking meters!!!!

There is a big antique car show in OKC this weekend. We think that this car was out taking a break and getting some fresh air from the convention!

Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar and Grill". We had lunch here. The meals were large and VERY filling. Good too!!! However, no Toby Keith!?!?!?

Another of the many painted buffalo in the City. This guy was sponsored by UPS.
